TODAY’S TOPIC: Personally I think it’s a damn shame that our solar system only has one planet which astronauts can land on and eventually establish a colony. Sad

And just to make matters worse, I’m on record as believing that Mars is about as useless as a handkerchief to a man in a spacesuit! Mars is just the Moon with bad weather . . . and a much less convenient location. Shocked

However, Hollywood has ignored the fact that Mars just doesn’t live up to the fictional versions created by authors like Edgar Rice Burroughs and H.G. Wells, and by artists like Frank Frazetta. Cool

And so, the folks at The Dream Factory have boldly gone where no man can really go before — the fantasy versions of Mars that are exciting and interesting.

See if you can figure out which of Hollywood’s fanciful trips to Mars are described below. If you really know your sci-fi movies, you should be able to figure out what all five movies are!

But let’s not have any cheating, folks! Christmas might be over, but Santa Claus is watching your behavior for next Christmas. So, be sure to play fair.

And while your racking up Brownie points with Kris Kringle, be sure a share a little love with your fellow members by offering a few replies. After all, 'Tis more blessed to give . . . than just to read. Wink

Five astronauts discover that Mars has life . . . and women . . . but no cities.

Five astronauts discover that Mars used to have life . . . but no cities and no women.

Four astronauts discover that Mars has cities . . . and life . . . and a nasty attitude!

One astronaut discovers that Mars has no life, no cities, and no women . . . but he applies for citizenship anyway.
