Adam 12 is one of the vintage series which MeTV promotes frequently. I've been wondering if I should DVR a few of them.

I mean, good lord, if I can enjoy some of late 1960s Dragnet episodes I've been watching on MeTV, surely I can have a bit of fun with Adam 12!

The Dragnet 1969 episodes, for instance, tend to be nothing but dull non-stop talking with a shamelessly preachy public service messages!

So, I guess I'll set my DVR to grab a week's worth of Adam 12 and spend a few "shelter in place" days with those Los Angles policemen!

I've been enjoying the Adam-12 reruns on MeTV, Bud.

I'm a fan of Jack Webb's productions. Yeah, I know, some find him a real square and don't think highly of his stance on law enforcement issues.

But what I've always admired about Webb was that his approach to his shows was in their realistic portrayals of what it was like to be detectives, uniformed officers, rescue workers.

Jack went for accuracy and not flashy melodramatics like you see on 99% of shows in that genre.

He wanted to depict what it really was like on the job and based his various TV shows upon real life cases.

I always felt that viewing his productions did away with the malarkey that the majority of TV producers hand out to their audience.

Webb kept it as realistic as he possibly could while also providing entertainment for his fans.

I have to respect that kind of integrity.

I've been watching ADAM 12 every weekday at 5:00 on ME TV! The stories are ageless, and the characters are wonderful! I also check out episodes of CHIPS and giggle when the super macho hot cycle cop Bruce Jenner comes on! Who would'a known???

"Adam-12" was one of the first, if not the first show to introduce S.W.A.T. Squads, when Malloy and Reed were made part of the squad.

Jack Webb was a great admirer of the Police. He considered them to be modern Knights holding back the barbarians.

As Pow said, Jack Webb insisted on accuracy. In the 50s "Dragnet", the Police HQ sets were an exact copy of the offices in the Los Angeles City Hall, down to the labeling on the telephones. Given this, I have to believe that the Police offices in the 60s Dragnet were a carbon copy of the Police offices in the Parker Center.

Code 2 — Immediately (no red lights and no siren).
Code 3 — Emergency (red lights and siren).

Code 6 — Out for investigation.
Code 7 — Out to eat.
Code 8 — Fire verified.

Now that MeTV has started Adam-12 from the beginning be on the watch for the 3rd seadon episode Log 105:Elegy for a Pig (30th overall episode, # 8 in the season): It gives Pete Malloy's background.

This documentary-style episode shows Malloy telling the story of his best friend, Officer Tom Porter (Mark Goddard), who was killed chasing a suspect. Malloy reviews his and Porter's history together, including applying for the LAPD together (and Porter meeting his wife that day), graduating from the Police Academy together, and their history in the LAPD. Jack Webb provided the opening and closing narration; [He simply names the episode Elegy for a Pig.]

This episode was just on earlier this week. Very moving.
Very Jack Webb too...as was today's episode which was the first/pilot directed by Webb. He had a lot to do with the dialogue as well.
