Consider some of the common sayings we often use — like, "I'm so hungry I could eat horse."

Some of these saying are truly perplexing when we contemplate them for a moment. Consider these questions.

Why do people think clams are so happy?

When do dogs actually work extremely hard?

How do we know that lambs sleep especially well?

Are crocodiles faking when THEY cry crocodile tears?

If old dogs can't be taught new tricks, can they be taught old ones?

Exactly what aspect of a sound night's sleep can be compared to a log?

How is evasive behavior similar to a bush around which one might beat?

How is dealing with an unpleasant task without delay similar to biting a bullet?

Why does dropping a hat prompt people to do spontaneous things often?

Why do we assume fiddles are especially "fit"?

Is chasing a wild goose really so pointless? What if the goose is old and slow?

If we don't reveal a secret we're aware of, are we being cruel to that poor cat we DON'T let out of the bag?

If you eat an apple a day but then get sick, will the doctor still be kept away after you call him?

Is it really darkest before the dawn, or is it actually just as dark an hour earlier?

If laughter is really the best medicine, why don't doctors fill their offices with nitrous oxide?
