They are NOT "frosted windows", It is thin muslim canvas held in place by cords.
The shutters are inside the arches and, besides, this is the scene where Dr. Morbius says "Kill it, Robby! Don't let it in!" And Robby short circuits.
Mom, my friend Kayla and myself just watched the movie and Kayla commented on it. _________________ ____________

My mistake, Eadie. I thought the panels were frosted glass.
But you've gotten me all confused about the "mystery" you mentioned. And the statement below is puzzling, too.
Eadie wrote: | The shutters are inside the arches and, besides, this is the scene where Dr. Morbius says "Kill it, Robby! Don't let it in!" And Robby short circuits. |
Well, yes and no.
The actors are posed for a publicity shot of the scene you mentioned, but that is definitely not an actual screen shot from the movie.
Furthermore, your own picture shows that the shutters are clearly NOT "inside the arches"! They are outside the arches, between them and the "thin muslin canvas" panels.
So, please explain your original statement, because I'm afraid I just don't understand it.
Quote: | A mystery. In the pic below, the shutters were closed. So why can't we see the plants outside the house?
 |
As I said, the shutters are NOT closed in the picture you posted with the comment — and besides, the muslin panels don't allow us to see plants outside the house even when they're open!
So, what does this statement mean?
Quote: | Proof that they goofed; shutters closed, NO outside plants visible:
 |
Ummm . . . what "goof" did they make, Eadie? How could we see outside plants when the shutters are closed!
Clear I've misunderstood your comments. _________________ ____________

I'm confused.
The shutters are closed so of course you can't see the plants outside....You can't see ANYTHING outside...because the shutters are opaque black!
I don't recall those muslin sheets in the movie, but they also block the view from outside.

Well, if you're both confused, then I'm bewildered.
The screens are definitely in the movie, BUUUUT, they are facing outside to where the steel shutters fall inside. Screens traditionally are located facing outside. No idea what the big deal is.

It's the Forbidden Planet cyclorama, but that's James Whitmore in another still from The Twilight Zone's "On Thursday We Leave For Home." |

Scotpens, I think the point Eadie was making is that the blending of the cyclorama with rocks in the background blended so well with the practicle rock props in the foreground.
Notice the smaller size of the rocks in the back and the gradualy larger ones as you look to the foreground. The forced perspective and depth of field gives a more 3 dimensional appearance to the scene. _________________ There comes a time, thief, when gold loses its lustre, and the gems cease to sparkle, and the throne room becomes a prison; and all that is left is a father's love for his child. |

Nice work, Gord!
However, the last one is incorrect. Please try again.
Clue #16 refers to a festive occasion which Robby did once . . . but which Santa Clause does every year . . . in New York! _________________ ____________

Perhaps you mean hosting a parade?
Las Vegas instead of NY!
