I've never seen this movie, but Wikipedia's summary of the plot makes it sound so wacky and silly that I'm not tempted to watch it.
But maybe I'm wrong and somebody can provide a recommendation that puts the movie in a different light. Steve Martin runs hot and cold when it comes to his humor, with All of Me (1984), Three Amigos! (1986) and Roxanne (1987) leaning toward the warm side.
I found Roger Ebert's comment interesting. He gave the film 2 out of 4 stars, and wrote that despite the fact that he "never found Steve Martin irresistibly funny" . . . "it's a tribute to "The Man With Two Brains" that I found myself laughing a fair amount of the time, despite my feelings about Martin."

I must admit, however, that this scene with Kathleen Turner temps me to give the movie a peak.

Bud if you like that scene, then just wait until you see the one with Randi Brooks.
Merv Griffin has a funny little scene, and I love the German roadside drunk test.
I like the movie and found it funny. Now I want to watch it again.

Bingo! I've placed it on my Netflix list and I'm eager to watch it.
Any chance we could watch it together HERE sometime soon?

This is one of the three Steve Martin movies I really like! (The other ones are DEADMEN WEAR PLAID and THREE AMIGOS). Steve channels his best Gene Wilder / Marty Feldmen mode here AND gives a hilarious take on a man carrying extra cranial baggage! _________________ There comes a time, thief, when gold loses its lustre, and the gems cease to sparkle, and the throne room becomes a prison; and all that is left is a father's love for his child. |

Trust me, this is a VERY funny comedy take on the "disembodied brain" horror/sci-fi sub-genre. An uncredited Sissy Spacek does the voice of the brain-in-a-jar. |
