I'm now armed and dangerous.
It has a machined aluminum body with a pressurised ink cartridge (it takes Fisher Space Pen refills), a carbide-tipped glass breaker on the cap and a nasty pointed end.
Sure it's goofy but it's a nice pen and doesn't cost more than any other good pen. |

Yes, I try not to get geeky about the weapon aspect because it would be a weapon of last resort but that is part of the package behind the "tactical pen" concept.
It's a really tough, cool looking pen that can be had for under $25.00. I neglected to show the writing nib under the cap.
Here's is it's relation to a weapon known as a kubotan:
"The Kubotan is a genericized trademark for a self-defense keychain weapon developed by Takayuki Kubota in the 1970s. It is typically no more than 5.5 inches (13.97 centimetres) long and about half an inch (1.25 centimetres) in diameter, slightly thicker or the same size as a marker pen. The material is usually of a hard high-impact plastic (i.e. Lexan). The body of the Kubotan is lined with six round grooves with a screw eye and/or swivel and split ring attachment at one end for keys. The Kubotan may appear as an innocuous key fob to the untrained eye. In some cases however it may be recognized and considered an offensive weapon in some jurisdictions."

I had to google that. I'm weak on Trek stuff. Theoretically, I have the capacity to make one of those...although, since they seem to be made commercially, it wouldn't make economical sense. I have the ability to do small scale metal work and I sometimes make pens as a hobby.
This is the first and only fountain pen I ever made. The operating parts and trim are commerical since making gold-plated iridium nibs is too much for me  . Basically, I made the body of the pen.

| I figure the sword is mightier than the pen...for about 2 blocks before the cops arrest me and throw me in jail for walking around with a sword! |
