Quote: | C.H.U.D. is a 1984 American science fiction horror film directed by Douglas Cheek, produced by Andrew Bonime, and starring John Heard, Daniel Stern, and Christopher Curry in his film debut. The plot concerns a New York City police officer and a homeless shelter manager who team up to investigate a series of disappearances, and discover that the missing people have been killed by humanoid monsters that live in the sewers.
The title of the movie is an abbreviation that stands for Cannibalistic Humanoid Underground Dwellers. |

Quote: | Out of all the B-horror movies of the 1980s, C.H.U.D. stands out. The first and only directorial venture of Douglas Cheek has found an unexpected resonance in recent years, finding new life as both an Internet meme and a reference point for broader ‘80s horror absurdity. But actually watching the movie reveals a better film that its pitifully low Rotten Tomatoes score would suggest. Now that C.H.U.D. is on Amazon Prime, here’s why you should see it. |

Just watched this one a few weeks ago for the first (and last) time. Saying it is a poorly executed, disjointed mess would be kind. _________________ "Have you never wondered what it would be like to walk between the ticks and tocks of Time?" |

It's like they forgot to shoot scenes that bridge one scene to another. So you're left confused or to speculate on what happened between scenes. Like why someone who is attacked in the cellar by a creature in one scene, seems to be just casually getting ready to shower for bedtime in the next.
The movie could have been a good commentary on society and government irresponsibility, but if falls so far from the mark it didn't even get up off the couch to try. _________________ "Have you never wondered what it would be like to walk between the ticks and tocks of Time?" |
