Wikipedia. Zotz! is a fantasy film that premiered on October 3, 1962 from Columbia Pictures. It was produced by William Castle.
Tom Poston plays ancient languages college professor Jonathan Jones who discovers that an amulet sent from an archeological dig from his niece's boyfriend to her possesses mysterious magical powers.
The coin when in the possession of a person can cause other people great pain when pointed at. It can cause time to go into slow motion when one says the word Zotz.
It can even cause death by simultaneously pointing at any living being and saying "Zotz."

Sidebar: The film boasts a marvelous supporting cast with Cecil Kellaway, Fred Clark, Margaret Dumont, Mike Mazurki, and Jimmy Hawkins.
This is a film along the lines of those Disney family friendly movies such as The Shaggy Dog that involves the supernatural and comedy blended together.
Zotz doesn't have the budget of those kind of Disney films, and Zotz isn't really in the same class either.
It has a likable cast, some amusing if not hilarious scenes, and a happy ending. Certainly not a film classic by any means, but Zotz will make you smile at times and reminds us of a gentler time. |
