Well, I don't feel any need to delete your comment, because you're speaking from personal experience, and you're doing so with intelligence and respect.
All I ask of the other members is that they conduct themselves with the same intelligence and respect . . . and to refrain from accusing the rest of us of "not knowing what's really going on." _________________ ____________

Interestingly enough, the _Star Trek_ franchise was one of the first that promoted social justice. Examples include Kirk and Uhura's kiss, a multinational cast (including Asian, African, and Russian characters), various episodes where the crew tried to understand various cultures, etc., sometimes from the past of the Earth. Consider that scene with Lincoln:

The difference is that it combined social justice with tolerance of prejudice, with many scenes involving debates on whether the crew should interfere or not, and so on. More important, it did so with the viewer barely noticing it.
That's very difficult to accomplish because it requires a resource that's both cheap because it involves only paper and pencil but also expensive because it requires time and many drafts. Unfortunately, given the amounts at stake and the drive to maximize profits, time is something many producers no longer have. |

How true. Some producers, writers, directors, and artistic designers and visual effects folks haven't learned that old adage "sometimes less is more." |
