Before Patrick Duffy landed his choice role on "Dallas" as Bobby Ewing, he starred in this brief sci-fi adventure series set in a future age when mankind has established undersea colonies.
Duffy plays a character obviously patterned after DC Comic's "Aquaman". Duffy is a descendant of the Lost Continent of Atlantis, an amphibious humanoid with both gills and lungs, webbed fingers, and webbed feet. The series featured an abundance of submarines and underwater special effects.
In this pilot episode, Duffy is found unconscious on a beach and taken to a hospital. After recovering, he aids the Navy in retrieving a lost submarine.
Directed by Lee H. Katzin. The series was considerably more popular with Chinese audiences, one of the first TV programs to be imported after American re-established relations with that country. _________________ ____________

IMDB has several interesting trivia items for this production.
__________________________________________________
~ Patrick Duffy didn't own a swimsuit when he auditioned for the show; he had to audition in his one unripped pair of Fruit of the Loom briefs.
Note from me: This sounds bogus, and I'm surprised that IMDB accepted it.
~ Patrick Duffy would inhale water into his nose and mouth while underwater to prevent air bubbles from escaping while he swam or "talked."
Note from me: I suspect this is based on something Duffy said jokingly on the Tonight Show (for example), and someone took it seriously.
________ Johnny Carson 1980 02 12 Patrick Duffy
___________
~ Patrick Duffy wrote a book detailing Mark Harris's backstory.
Note from me: I'd like to know what he came up with.
~ Patrick Duffy's son Padraic Duffy later played a character named Mark Harris in Dallas: Charade (1990), Dallas: One Last Kiss (1990) and Dallas: Win Some, Lose Some (1991).
Note from me: Wait a minute . . . Patrick named his son Padraic! I'll bet the kid just loved that.
~ Tragically for its millions of foreign fans, the series was a failure in USA, which didn't last an entire season. However, the amphibian-man and aquatic super-hero was wildly popular abroad, particularly in France and other countries of Europe, in China and in parts of South America.
Note from me: I think perhaps today's technology makes the global market more important to productions like this. _________________ ____________
