According to the website which Ralfy posted above, this is what the Alien homeworld was planned to look like, but it was never used.
The homeworld was called Xenomorph Prime it was the location of several video games and graphic novels. Here's an example of the latter.
However, I think what Gord said is a very intelligent concept.
Gord Green wrote: | I conceived this alien species as perhaps originally evolving on some planet, planetoid, moon or asteroid someplace, but being spread all throughout the galaxy and perhaps beyond into the universe. Its' ability to adapt to foreign genetic material would make it a galactic survivor and as able to infiltrate and adapt an ecosystem as cosmic kudzu!
There may be strains of these "aliens" throughout the galaxy! |

Here's another point I just thought about (warning: spoilers):
After she is rescued by the company, Ripley submits a deposition or sworn evidence to the board of inquiry.
The inquiry begins to investigate the matter. They don't believe Ripley's story.
Burke sends a message to the colony, giving them the location of the derelict ship and requires the manager to send one wildcat team to the location.
A week later, the wildcat team radios the manager, telling them that they found something. Hours later, they radio the colony, and bring in Russ Jorden, who's infected with a facehugger. It takes several hours for the egg laid to gestate and turn into an alien.
It takes two weeks for any message from the colony to be received by the company.
After the hearing, Burke tells Ripley that they have lost contact with the colony, will be sending an armed expedition to investigate, and wants her to come along as consultant in exchange for all charges against her dropped and her flight status re-instated. She agrees.
When they arrive, they see no survivors except for a little girl who is "borderline malnourished," signs of barricading and uneaten food in dining areas, and four facehuggers in the lab, two alive.
Some questions and points:
Where did Burke get the location of the derelict ship? If it came from Ripley's deposition, then Ripley would have logically demanded to the company during the hearing to wait for a reply from the colony to prove her claims.
If the colony manager was instructed to send word right away of the discovery, which the company would have required given the potential revenues of the discovery, then the manager would have been able to at least send a message stating that they had discovered the ship but one of the wildcatters got infected by a facehugger.
That message would have been received by the company before the colony got wiped out by the aliens. It would have also confirmed Ripley's deposition and allowed the company to come up with a better-prepared expedition. |
