I stumbled across this nice 35 minute video of Adam Savage being shown the original TOS filming model being restored.

There's pretty comprehensive coverage of the restoration (from the terrible job done previously) and preservation of the model here:

Thanks for the great video!
I love the Enterprise, It's a paradigm shift for fictional spacecraft. Nothing like it had ever been seen before.
I have been lucky to see the Enterprise in all 3 states of display at the NASM.
In 1976 when it was 1st put on display at the new museum on the mall, with the wrong deflector dish and nacelle caps.
2004-2014, the horrible 1990's restoration.
2016-present, the beautiful restoration.
Oddly enough I have seen 2 other TOS Enterprise filming models.
The original AMT kit used in Trouble With Tribbles and the 5 1/2 foot model built for the DS9 episode Trials and Tribblations. Both were on display at the Science Fiction Museum when it was in Seattle.
I would love to see the original 3 foot model but I think that one is lost forever with the Romulan warbird.

I finally found most of my Enterprise photos.
All of these photo's are from the NASM in DC.
First are my old instamatic photo's.
The right 2 are from 1977
The left 2 are from 1981
Next is from the mid 2000's. This is the early 1990's restoration.
Finally from last month, the outstanding 2016 restoration in the Savage video.
Last is the old 1960's AMT kit used in "The Trouble With Tribbles"
This was the Enterprise seen through the Space station K7 windows.
EDIT:
For some reason the first image will only load as a clickable link.
Sorry |

Nice photos! I fixed the "clickable" image by removing the ?1 which Imgur adds to the URL whenever a jpeg has been edited in any way. That's why your first image was just the URL, like this.
http://i.imgur.com/d3e2xOwm.jpg?1
If an image has been edited twice, the URL will have ?2 added to it. Just remove the two extra characters and the images will display properly.
Oddly enough, I can't get Imgur's edit functions to work anymore for some damn reason, so I just use Paint.net to resize my jpegs before uploading them to Imgur.
You should try it. It's a great app, and it free!

Thanks Bud!
I suspected that was the issue, but I'm not very computer smart.
I have another photo of the 5 ft filming miniature used in DS9's Trials and Tribelations but it was taken with an old digital camera. I'll have to search through thousands of photo's on an old harddrive.
All I know was it was taken in 2005 or 2006. |

Then there's my friend Bill George's behind the scenes video of he and two other model makers working on the finishing touches on the miniature.
