Believe it or not, the director was a National Artist of the Philippines:

He made several B-movies for the U.S. and shot in the Philippines, like Black Mama, White Mama, Beast of the Yellow Night, The Woman Hunt, Beyond Atlantis, The Twilight People, and the "Blood" trilogy: Brides of Blood, The Mad Doctor of Blood Island, and Beast of Blood. Some starred Pam Grier, and he's much-admired by Quentin Tarantino.
He moved away from international B-movies and went to award-winning local films during the 1970s. |
