This silly, one standard air tank holds 50,000CF of air. That little balloon would need only 6. |

Cubic Feet, small air tanks ( 6ftx2ft) used in places like dive shops hold hold that much air. |

Old concept. Back in the 60s, there were photos of prototype inflatable space stations in books on space travel.

I think one idea for this basic concept was to build the steel outer "hull" around inflatable cores to support the pieces until the framework was sufficiently stable to hold the overall shape.
Then the air-filled bags would become enclosed layers between the ridged inner and outer walls that insured an airtight seal. _________________ ____________
