You'll swear to God you're looking at a special effect.
Your not.
You won't believe it's possible.
It is.
You'll tell all your friends that this Christmas you want these little computer-controlled flying gizmos that zip around the room in perfect formation doing absolutely impossible stunts.
You won't get them.
Santa knows you haven't been nearly good enough to get these things.
Hell, nobody has!

Thats another hard NOPE!
It looks cool, but I can see a lot of ways to die in it.
And 40 minutes at a MAX speed of 120MPH gives it a theoretical max range of 80 miles. Add in the energy to take off, winds, weather and the realistic range is probably less than 50 miles.
Is 40 minutes to dead batteries? better reduce the range by another 20% then.
Weather at your destination? reduce it more to make it to a safe place to land.
When you get there then you need to charge. For hours, not minutes. I hope you like where you are, you will be there for a while.
I see no pricing is indicated.
My guess will be $100,000 to $300,000.
That's IF it ever gets certified.
How does the "Advanced anti collision system" work"
Is it visual like the Tesla autopilot? Better worry about windowed buildings (regular and mirrored).
Can it detect another flying car or airplane? In time to avoid it at a potential 240+MPH closer rate?
I'm glad it has a parachute, because that thing won't glide or auto rotate in the event of a failure.
These are just my first thoughts. |

Impressive analysis, Mark. It's a real "wake up call" concerning the practical aspects of his beautiful machine.
There's no question that H1-X is a breathtaking design.
But the video pitches it as a practical mod of transportation for the general public. That's totally unrealistic. Roads and traffic laws make automobiles reasonably safe to use. But a sky filled with aircraft like the H1-X would be more like a 3D version of this situation!

I was surprised to learn the H1-X did NOT require a pilot's license. Do the manufacturers really think that flying this aircraft is no more difficult than driving a car?
Anyway, Mark, you did a fine job of summing up all the negative aspects of this so-called "flying car". _________________ ____________
