I wonder if there were any existing "death ray" props still in existence from the serials. If so, they could have leased sone for use in Superman.

If nothing else, they could use the famous prop we called the Gizmo, which was first seen in a early 1940s serial, and later in Science Fiction Theatre, Forbidden Planet, Earth vs the Flying Saucers, and The Man from UNCLE.

Unfortunately, we've never been able to find out who created it!

Here's a bit of luck...

When they first started releasing this on DVD (2011, I think) I started buying it. It was MANY years later, that I realized that I had NOT purchased the final boxed set containing seasons 5 and 6.

Being born in 1958, I was not entirely familiar with the history of the TV show and I simply didn't realize how long it was on the air. So I was a box short and, by this time, it was out of production and unaffordable in the secondary market.

Last year, I walked into Value Village and found a complete, mint condition boxed set of seasons 5 and 6 for $9.99CDN...about $7.40USD.

Many years ago I enjoyed watching my DVDs with my grandson. He was about seven years old, the same age I was when I watched them in the middle 1950s.

Golden memories of a happy experience with my daughter's young 'un!
