Night of the Living Dead was released on October 4, 1968 and written and directed by George Romero.

The movie was made with a budget between $114 to 125,000. Box Office gross: $30,000,000. The low budgeted horror-science fiction film has become a movie classic.

George Romero stated that Richard Matheson's iconic novel I Am Legend was an inspiration for this movie.

The word zombie is never mentioned in the movie. Zombie wasn't ever used on the popular series The Living Dead.

Perhaps the horror movie I have watched the most over the decades. I literally watch it every other month to this day.

I love everything about NOTLD, and it is such a ground-breaking movie in many ways.

I've resisted the urge to watch this popular movie for decades. Shocked

Sometimes I start thinking about all the stalwart fans it has, and I feel a growing compulsion to finally view it on some dark and stormy night.

But whenever this ghastly urge begins to overwhelm me . . I fight it . . . I fight it with all my might! Shocked

I remind myself that I'm Bud Brewster, a science fiction author, a talented artist, and the site administrator of All Sci-Fi — the beacon of hope for mankind's bright future, and the champion of science fiction fans who still believe in the basic nobility of the human race!

Still . . . from time to time . . . the hideous urge to watch this movie returns. Confused

Oh God, please give me strength!

I think you would enjoy it Bud. It is a classic horror movie, and unlike today's fare, it isn't full of blood and guts. There are 2 scenes which could be described as gruesome, but nothing like today's films.

It is actually very creepy and atmospheric. The acting isn't really top-notch, but decent enough.

Okay, you've talked me into it!

But only if you watch it with me in All Sci-Fi's Chatzy Room (< — link).

I'll find a download and put it on my WeTransfer account, then I'll send you the link on an ASF pm. You can download it and then pick the day and time we watch it. We'll watch it together!

Come on, Wade! Share this classic with me! What have you got to loose? I'm just itchin to be wrong about this movie!

OK Bud, you have a deal.

I work a truly abysmal schedule, so we will have to plan it for a Monday or Tuesday late morning/early afternoon sometime.

It has been what, 15 years or so since we watched a movie together, and if I recall correctly, we watched Riders to the Stars on a synced DVD. I still have those DVD's you sent me many moons ago and watch them every now and again.

Anyway, let's plan a NOTLD viewing later this month. What a perfect time as we approach on Halloween.

Hey, I'd forgotten that you were a fellow synchro-cinema chatter back in the "old days"!

Which movies did I send you? I don't remember what they were!Shocked

Oh, and here's a download of Night of the Neighbors Who Eat People.

Yeah, way back when All Sci-Fi was starting up we'd syncro-watch movies quite often. I remember watching: Riders to the Stars, Earth vs the Flying Saucers, When Worlds Collide, and a few others.

You sent me Riders to the Stars, The Space Children and a couple Rocky Jones serials.
