Highly Enjoyable serial, based on the comic strip character created by famed WWI air ace Eddie Rickenbacker.
Each episode begins with a story synopsis presented as a comic strip. The "Dragon" is a mysterious villain who causes the destruction of clipper-ship airliners belonging to International Airways by sending electric shocks through the pilot's radio headphones. Viewers don't find out who the Dragon is until the last chapter.
The Dragon's men kidnap an American archeologist who has discovered a mountain of Jade in Mongolia. The archeologist's beautiful daughter (Jean Rogers, who later plays Dale Arden in "Flash Gordon") arrives in Mongolia to find her missing father. The president of International Airways sends his dashing son, Ace Drummond, to combat the Dragon.
Drummond's loyal sidekick is played by Noah Berry, Jr. (Rocketship X-M, The Rockford Files).
Chapters Twelve and Thirteen are chock-full of slam-bang action. Plot twists and comic relief are plentiful in this highly enjoyable serial. "Bad Guy" characters frequently turn out to be good guys! Oriental characters are sometimes good, sometimes bad, just like real people — which is amazing for the time when this serial was made! _________________ ____________

It's interesting that "Ace" has the same surname as Hugh "Bulldog" Drummond, who managed to feature in two dozen films from 1922 to 1969, as well as novels, short stories, and radio shows, as Wikipedia shows us.
Certainly, YouTube has plenty of the movies available, as well as radio shows and even audiobooks of the original novels by H. C. "Sapper" McNeile. In the films he was played by Ralph Richardson, Tom Conway, Ron Randell, Ray Milland, Walter Pidgeon, Richard Johnson, Ronald Colman, Rod La Rocque, and John Howard, among others... quite a career! |

YouTube has all the chapters of this serial in one 4 hour video, and the picture quality is much better than the previous versions (which were hideous).
Enjoy!
