Thanks, Pow! Very Happy

It was your comments that made me realize a modification might be fun to do. Ironically, stretching out the ship took a few seconds. But it took longer to make the modifications to the rest of the picture!

I wasn't happy with it until I managed to get Ken Berry and the rest of the background into the new version of the picture without too many visible "seams" between the pieces I had to paste together for it to work. Confused

Thanks, Wade! Your comment made me take another look at my post above, so I modified it with a few new thoughts and images — like this. Very Happy

The result makes the ship look stunted and frumpy, like a VW Beetle.

In fact, it looks a real beetle! Especially the head. Shocked

But if we altered the proportions to give the ship a bit more pizzaz . . . we get this. Now it looks kinda badass, more like a Ferrari! Cool

I recalled reading at the time that another production rented or bought the Cat ship. It took me a while to find it -- it's in Starlog #41 if you're playing along -- for a movie to be called UFO Chronicles. Whatever documentary footage they can get about UFOs, and two aliens in the Cat ship as a dramatization of whatever conclusion the writer has come to about it all.

If you've looked for it, you may have noticed IMDb pulls up a lot of items for "ufo chronicles," but none seem to be what we want. The article talks to and about the director, writers, costumer, and alien actors, but pulling up their profiles doesn't lead to any movie like this under any name. (I'm reminded there was a film called The Cry of Cthulu in the special effects stage that still doesn't seem to be out. Some could mention how long it took Dave Allen's Primevals to come out.)

Anyway, the changes you made to the ship would work well for another project, but for Disney's film, I wonder if we shouldn't go the other way, and push the nose in, for a flatter, cartoon, cat face

I'm trying resist the urge to add fins that resemble cat's ears, and "antennae" whiskers on each side! Laughing

Oh what the hell . . . why not, eh?

Thanks. Very Happy

When I started working on it I had no idea how I would do it or how it would turn out. I didn't want the fin-ears to look "stuck on", so I was surprised when I managed to make them look like they were just part of the actual design!

Of course, the whisker-antennae do look stuck on, but they're just kind a joke element for the sake of humor.
