DYK? Beautiful Marianna Hill & Leonard Nimoy co-starred on The Outer Limits episode "I, Robot" 14 November 1964? The episode was based upon stories collected in Adam Link, Robot, by Otto Binder. John Hoyt ("The Cage") also co-starred in this episode. The Outer Limits: The Official Companion.

John Hoyt was indeed a very prolific character actor in films and television.

On the Bonanza episode "The Decision" from December 16, 1962, we see that the guest stars are John Hoyt and DeForest Kelly. The two Chief Medical Surgeons of the Enterprise, at different times, meet one another prior to Star Trek. Kelly even plays a doctor in this episode.

John Hoyt was also in the porno FLESH GORDON.
(In a fully clothed role....Flesh's dad!)

John Hoyt was a versatile character actor who could take on a wide variety of roles. He played the school principal in Blackboard Jungle; the embittered, misanthropic, crippled billionaire Stanton in When Worlds Collide; and the seemingly gentle but batshit-crazy dollmaker in Attack of the Puppet People. Probably his most unusual role was as the glowing alien creature in the Outer Limits episode "The Bellero Shield." He was completely unrecognizable with a full head appliance and speaking in an odd falsetto. I'd never have known it was John Hoyt if I hadn't seen his name in the credits!

Family and friends can be of enormous help to someone suffering mental & emotional illnesses. Is this Tantalus Colony easy for people to journey to? How long does it take? Once there, are there rooms for them to stay in at all?

Read this article today which addresses my earlier post regarding the need for people to experience nature for their mental & emotional well being.

In her book "Good Nature," Kathy Wilson who is a professor of biodiversity at the University of Oxford writes that numerous studies show how immersing ourselves in the natural world has significant health benefits.

Having the patients/prisoners on the Tantalus Penal colony living in a subterranean environment would cause more harm to their mental states. The surface of Tantalus V is rocky and barren. That would not offer any respite from living underground either.

So Captain Kirk orders a trained psychiatrist to accompany him to the Tantalus Colony in order to benefit from her insights and observations of the staff & patients.

They then meet some of them who are like zombies but Helen Noel doesn't pick up on anything being out of the ordinary.
Hmmm.
