Season season 3 starts next month.
I'm looking forward to it. Next to TOS its some of the best Trek.
Alright, some of DS9 is excellent also.
But I read today that they are pulling the after a short season 5.
It seems odd to me.
Unless they are planing to start TOS all over again.
Thoughts? |

I agree ST:SNW is top notch, along with PICARD!
It does seem that this will be the last season. It also seems that all things STAR TREK are due for a hiatus. _________________ There comes a time, thief, when gold loses its lustre, and the gems cease to sparkle, and the throne room becomes a prison; and all that is left is a father's love for his child. |

Luckily we have 2 and a half seasons left.
but I am a little surprised they are choosing to announce the end now.
I think you are correct. Maybe its time for a short break.
We have had a lot of Trek recently. |

Impressive series. I am stunned at the quality, size, and detail to the sets seen on this series. It's like a lavish feature film than a weekly TV series. The progression of what productions can achieve in this day and age is nothing short of a miracle. |

I agree on all accounts.
It probably helps that they only do 10 episodes a season
and are not constrained by the weekly time limit of a classic TV series.

Agreed. I believe that when a series sets up a season for not more than 10 or 12 episodes, they are not involved in a grueling race to pump out 22, or more, episodes. When you are on that kind of brutal treadmill the quality of a series can diminish. I've also read that the budget per episode diminishes, therefore the look of the show suffers.
I'm currently loving The Ark (2023) science fiction TV show. They produce 12 episodes a season and that works greatly to their benefit for maintaining the high standards of the series. Would I enjoy seeing this series produce 22 episodes per season (today's average for television shows)? Yeah, I'm a fan. However, I also realize that there is the risk of watching the quality go down as a season goes on for that long.
BTW, great to hear from you Mach 7. I haven't posted anything here since I first posted to let everyone know about Bruce's passing. His death has hit me very hard and I dearly miss our friend everyday. But I so enjoy Bruce's terrific ALL SCI-FI board so much that I wanted to get back to posting, even if no one else returned to read my posts. |

Thanks Pow.
Yah, I feel the same. Bruce's passing was a shock.
I keep coming back here to check if anyone has posted.
I too miss Bruce's whit and thoughts. |

I'm late watching season 3 of SNW.
We are up to episode 4.
So far I think its the weakest of the seasons.
A little too fluffy, a little too predictable, a little forced at times.
Still a good watch though. I am liking Scotty's part.
