_____
Fritz Lang (director of "Metropolis") remade two 1919 silent adventure films originally produced in Germany from director Joe May.
Debra Paget ("From the Earth to the Moon", "The Most Dangerous Man Alive") plays an exotic dancer rescued by Paul Christian ("Beast from 20,000 Fathoms"). She performs a dance in one scene that threatened to ignite the nitrate in the movie film and burn the theaters to the ground.
This is actually an English-dubbed and edited-down version of Lang's two remakes. The first is called "The Tiger of Eschnapur" and the second is "The Indian Tomb". The adventures of the hero and heroine pit them against elephants, snakes, tigers, and even a few lepers.
Not exactly science fiction, but good adventure, very reminiscent of the old serials. _________________ ____________

I assume your comment is a clever reference to the rubber cobra in the dance scene. _________________ ____________

A few shots of the leper pit from The Tiger of Eschnapur were used to portray the den of "mutants" in Beyond the Time Barrier (1960). |
