I tried to add my avatar to the profile — in fact tried several different ones — but I keep getting a message that the URL is invalid.
The URL works fine in posting pictures, why not avatars? _________________ Common Sense ISN'T Common |

Check the size. It must be 155 X 155 px or smaller. _________________ ____________

Here is the one I tried for Colossus logo.
https://farm7.staticflickr.com/6108/6289933659_2df9824b91_q.jpg
I downloaded to my computer and checked its size = 150 x 150 pixels, 9 kb file size.
I had all required fields of my profile page marked with asterisks filled. Reusing my same functioning password.
I also tried using URL and IMG (in brackets) prefix and suffix escape codes.
Nothing worked.
Still getting "The URL of the remote avatar is not valid" message. _________________ Tired of waiting on NASA to adopt Flying Saucer technology! Sick of human political-representative government! You cannot link to an https url for your avatars. You must change the https in the URL to http as this older version of the board cannot link securely to secure sites for the avatars. I have changed the url to http and added the collossus logo for you. |

Well SOMETHING is wrong.
My original avatar was both posted in the profile and sent to me by Bud. It is 194 x 198 and 29 Kb.
My Goddaughter Eadie's avatar was 96 x 150 and 16 Kb.
None of them use "https"
Eadie's:
Mine:
The one I would like to have I can't seem to get small enough. Original:
Smallest I can make:
Any suggestions? _________________ Common Sense ISN'T Common |

It gets pretty hard to make out details in that size, but you're welcome to it.
(I'm starting to think of setting myself up in business creating avatars for residents of Seattle and vicinity. There seems to be a market for it.) _________________ ...or not...

Ha! Beatcha, Wayne! Using my God-like site admin powers, I have bestowed Butch's new avatar on him.
I was tired of that old picture of Ulysses S. Grant he's been using anyway. _________________ ____________

You may have been quicker, Bud, but I spent my time cropping the excess black margins so the artwork would be as large as possible within the restrictions. Compairez vous...

I finally got the avatar to post....and it wasn't easy!
Photobucket kept cropping the sides of the photo. It finally appeared on photobucket after many tries, then easily on ASF.
Does anyone else have trouble posting photos to photobucket?
PS: I think it is the thumbnail view in Photobucket that is confusing me. Use direct code. |

I had the same kind of problem at first. When I added the pic as a "thumbnail" it worked great!!! |
