What would happen if you poured lava right on top of a thick sheet of ice?

Logical guesses would include a lot of melted ice and a blob of cooling lava. Not that exciting, right?

Annnnnk! Wrong!

This is one wild and wacky video, with spontaneous works of art growing before your eyes from the violent interaction between liquid rock that wants to be a solid, and solid water that wants to be a liquid!

Watching this video again today I realized that the lava flowing out over the ice on a very large scale might create large and amazing geological formations! Shocked

Consider, for example, volcanic eruptions in Antarctica millions of years ago, which created landscapes which eventually became the fictional region I've been calling The New Lost World

Just a thought, folks. Think Like a Writer and you'll be rewarded for it.
