I traveled farther and farther until I ended up further from my home then I had ever been before.
I see nothing wrong with using either. |
Maybe it's just memories of my mother mimicking a Missouri accent when I hear "further" being substituted for "farther". _________________ ...or not...

Is that "ee-ther" or "eye-ther"? |

Let's try this with a line from Child 44:
"You are to collect further information."
"You are to collect farther information."
I guess it's a one-way street. _________________ ...or not...

The misused word that drives me batty is "simplistic".
The next time I hear somebody use "simplistic" as a synonym for "simple", I'm going to take a 2x4 spiked with rusty nails and beat them. Then I'll wait for tetanus to set in so that they can die a slow and well-deserved death. |

The rusty nail hurt less than the shot. Last time I walked into the house and told the wife my foot hurt. The 2X4 was still attached and the nail sticking out the top of my foot. _________________ The road to tomorrow runs through yesterday. |
