Why does Batman have a Gun in the new Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice trailer?

(Looks as if it was inspired by the blaster rifle from Forbidden Planet.)

Notice that there is no footage of Jason Mamoa (Arthur Curry - Aquaman) or Ray Fisher (Victor Stone - Cyborg).

Christina Wren plays Carrie (Carol) Ferris which seems to indicate that Hal Jordan - Green Lantern is in the movie. IMDb doesn't state the roles played by Bailey Chase, Scoot McNairy, Callan Mulvey, Jade Chynoweth, Rachel Claire or Ralph Lister. These roles will be announced only at movie's release.

Industry rumor has Jena Malone as Barbara Gordon - Batgirl and Ezra Miller as Barry Allen - The Flash. (Both actors are in the movie.)

Do they show what the gun fires? Batman has used other gun-like devices to fire things like grappling hooks.
