A bit of good ol' Terra-forming, eh? That certainly looks like a good place to live.
Of course, if experts such as Edgar Rice Burroughs are to be believed, Mars was once well off for water and atmosphere, so maybe, many millennia back, it did look like that...? |

I still think my theory about Mars is correct: the highly advanced Martian civilization has been falsifying our telemetry for decades, feeding us fake images of a dead Mars, supposedly sent to us from all the probes and rovers — yes, even from the Hubble telescope in orbit around our own planet!
They've tricked us with false images of which they created to make us think we really know what Mars looks like!
How else can we explain 60 years of rampant UFO sightings and alien encounters? The gulf between the stars is too great for mere joy rides by little spaceships that arrive here after crossing many light years and then play tag with our jet fighters and pose briefly for those shaky videos made by imbeciles who can't hold their damn camera phones steady!
These spacecraft are actually from the green and well-populated Mars you see in the picture above!
And the planet does in fact have futuristic cities sprawled across the surface, populated by amazing beings who chuckle every time they tune into the Science Channel and see shows about how mankind hopes to terraform Mars someday (not to mention the conspiracy morons who think we didn't really land on the Moon).
Gentlemen, behold! The real Mars!

Science Fiction connections for these Science Facts
Red Planet presented very ambitious ideas for terraforming Mars, and the plot of Mission to Mars included elements on that subject as well.
In The Martian, Matt Damon was a one-man terraforming operation, and in Conquest of Space, Benson Fong plants a flower and it survives, proving that if we shipped a few hundred employees of Pike's Nursery to the Mars and let them "play in the dirt", we'd end up with a garden there in no time.
Enjoy the trailers, and feel free to discuss these movies right here or in their threads by clicking on the titles.
And add your own suggestions, too!

Here's another hypothetical illustration of what Mars might have looked like billions of years ago.
The excellent video below does a great job of explaining the discovery of an sub-glacial lake at the Martian north pole which might harbor life!
Forgive me for bragging, but it sounds a little like my New Land Unknown story idea about a lake under Antarctica surrounded by a valley with dinosaurs.
Watch this great video and find out why there just might be microbes in the sub-polar Martian lake . . . and small fish . . . and crab-like creatures!
